Lingotot teach you everything you need to know to run a successful and profitable Children's Languages Business
March 2021
Hear from Lingotot Founder, Angela Sterling as she talks about the Lingotot franchise and how she and her team managed to successfully move their teaching online when the first lockdown hit!
Angela founded Lingotot after working as Head of Languages in schools across the UK and internationally and after three of her pupils ranked in the top 10 in the world for their GCSEs.
Angela started Lingotot when her eldest daughter was 7 weeks old and franchised as her second daughter arrived. She still loves teaching and also helping franchisees set up their own Lingotot businesses.
Angela's drive and passion for languages along with her strong vision and resilience has earned her many awards, she is Regional Chair for EWIF (Encouraging Women into Franchising) and she has even appeared on BBC’s Dragons’ Den!
Like many businesses, the COVID-19 pandemic has drastically affected the way in which children's education franchises operate. Most education and class based franchises usually take place in schools, nurseries and communities across the UK.
With the pandemic came the closure of these sites and had a massive impact on these businesses with classes and franchisees struggling to offer their services. However Lingotot was ready.
Lingotot swiftly adapted to the new rules and not only pulled through, but grew their business during the pandemic.
In order to overcome the complications that lockdowns and restrictions gave rise to in terms of teaching, they introduced innovative ways to safely continue lessons. They launched a Forest School programme, allowing for socially distanced, outdoor learning. They also created a Summer School programme which opened franchisees up to more business, and had a new interactive online learning platform ready in time for the first day of lockdown one.
While schools currently remain closed, their online platform has been incredibly successful and allowed children all over the UK to continue their language education.
Lingotot have been providing online classes to schools and nurseries to supplement their curriculum, and directly to parents so that they can plan their homeschooling timetable around their lives.
In 2020 Lingotot welcomed 18 new franchisees, many of them launching and continuing to run their businesses solely online.
One amazing example of this is Amy Rowsell who founded Lingotot South Staffordshire in March of 2020, just as schools across the country closed for the first time.
Amy has successfully been running online classes and has since won contracts with schools who loved her lessons and has just expanded her network due to the demand, welcoming a new tutor to her business.
Lingotot have established themselves as providers of high quality online language lessons for children. They have proven their business model can respond and adapt quickly to challenging circumstances and have continued to support children's education across the UK throughout the pandemic.
