Next Steps

Are you an ambitious and positive business developer with exemplary people management skills and a love of
fashion and style?

Suit the City has just entered its twelfth year in business and the company is bucking the trend with a completely new approach to retail. With growing demand, low overheads and healthy margins, the opportunity bypasses the crisis on the High Street with a business model that is designed to benefit both you and your clients.

What are the main services offered by the business?Suit the City Tailoring Franchise | Professional Tailoring Business

Suit the City offers made-to-measure suits and separates for women and men. The business fills a gap in the market for high quality women’s business wear.

Once the women's service was established, the men’s made-to-measure service was introduced due to demand.

Who owns the business and how did the business begin?

The business is owned and managed by Carol Rawson and Sallie Belton, both women were involved in starting the business in 2007. Previously, Carol was working in London and found it impossible to buy professional business wear, so she decided to fix the problem by starting Suit the City! The idea came to fruition when Sallie Belton came to work with Carol’s successful consulting business and the two embarked on a (so far) twelve-year journey.

How long has the franchise been established and how developed is the franchise network?

The scheme piloted in 2012 and now has four areas running at present.

What makes this franchise stand out from competitors?

Suit the City are the only tailoring company offering a women’s made-to-measure service through a franchise team. They are also a recognised member of the BFA.

After 12 years developing the product offering and selling to women, the company is looking to expand their network as there is an ever-growing demand for the products.

Did you know that it takes up to twenty years to train as a bespoke tailor? This is why Savile Row suits are so expensive. However, Suit the City’s process enables its franchisees to use the same cloth as the Savile Row tailors, but leverages technology to manufacture the garments at around a quarter of the price.

What is the main role of a franchise owner?

Suit the City Tailoring Franchise | Professional Tailoring BusinessThe role is one of building relationships, this is a business for an expert communicator, you will be selling and marketing a luxury, in-demand product – the company does not hard-sell!

Plus, you will never be sewing… this work is carried out by the tailors in the European factory. Your management skills will be vital as you grow a team to work with you, measuring and managing your clients

Suit the City Tailoring Franchise | Professional Tailoring BusinessWhat does a typical day involve for a franchisee?

Franchisees spend a lot of time building relationships. At first this will involve plenty of networking, attending events, setting up partnerships and in-company events.  You will always be very busy.

Once you are established, you will still be meeting clients, but increasingly spending a good proportion of your time measuring. In the medium term Suit the City expect you to be growing and managing your team so you can free up your time to focus on sales.

Can the business fit around family activities or other commitments?

Suit the City Tailoring Franchise | Professional Tailoring BusinessThe short answer is yes, you are in control of your own diary.

It is however, vital that you put in the hours and manage your time efficiently.

The more you put in, the more you will get out of your business, so if you are looking for an easy life, Suit the City is not the business for you.

If you are willing to work hard and build a team around you the potential earnings and job satisfaction are excellent.

What qualifications or experience are needed?

The simple answer is you must be happy selling, in addition you must be ambitious and willing to learn new skills. You must have excellent spoken and written communication, together with the confidence to go out and build a new business – everything else is covered in your training.

What training is provided?

Suit the City Tailoring Franchise | Professional Tailoring Business
