To sell advertising to local businesses. To ensure a healthy balance between paid for advertising and interesting and engaging local feature content. To liaise with designers to layout the magazines as per the flat plan and to ensure that local schools distribute the magazines to their pupils.
A typical day will include telephone work, face to face meetings and email correspondence with advertising clients for both print editions and their own area specific website.
Compiling lists of local events and activities relevant and interesting to the target market of primary school children and their families. Producing editorial/feature content. A great deal of material is available free of charge to franchisees on their portal. An average franchisee works circa 24 hours per week.
Absolutely. Raring2go! is not part time but it is very flexible. Most franchisees are parents of school age children who want to maintain the flexibility of caring for their family whilst working and earning.
Greater time input is required at the beginning of the journey with Raring2go! but in time, most of their franchisees are able to take nearly all of the school holiday time (13 weeks) in order to have no childcare costs and spend time with their families.
Raring2go! provide training, but in essence all franchisees will need either experience of or a natural disposition for advertising sales.
They will need to be able to build friendly working relationships with businesses and have the confidence to sell advertising space via phone, face to face and via email / letters.
Franchisees will need an eye for detail and also not be afraid to roll up their sleeves when production time approaches.
Raring2go! provide full training in all aspects of their IT systems which include their proprietorial Magazine Management System, CRM and content management system for their website. They also train them in running the awards and using social media effectively for business.
Raring2go! is a seasonal, quarterly magazine so there are four editions per annum. Each edition is a minimum of 32 pages x 10,000 copies.
Clearly, as a business matures, the page count and production quantity increase, bring of course slightly higher print costs but also increased profitability.
Raring2go! hold an annual conference every year where all franchisees attend. This normally takes place in mid-January as this is when there is a natural lull in production between winter and spring editions.
Raring2go! fluctuate venues between the north, the midlands and the south. In addition, throughout the year there are regional meetings between franchisees where the franchisor also attends. Finally, once a month there is a remote coffee house Zoom (like Skype) call which brings franchisees together to discuss a range of subject and topics.
