It has been a busy couple of months for Ambience HQ! They had their Ambience Conference in November and had 2 franchise sales! Amy Bramley started a week before the conference which was on the 28th November and their Glasgow stylists joined them on the conference day as they didn’t want to miss out on all the fun they had planned for the day!
Amy took over from Hana who was the owner of Ambience Harrogate. Hana and Laura (York stylist) now work together in running the Ambience York franchise. Which meant that the thriving Harrogate franchise for up for grabs!
Amy recognised the value in the Franchise and took that jump in to becoming self-employed and is now the fully trained and licenced owner of Ambience Harrogate & North Yorkshire! Ambience are super excited to have her on board. She has already styled weddings and has done a fabulous job of it!
“Since leaving school I have pursued careers mostly within the public sector. I have always wanted to give something back to society and to help people. I have spent the past 10 years working within a Policing environment both within the military and the civilian Police. The career path that I chose was a challenging one, highly pressurised with potentially life changing consequences, it was fast paced and exciting at times but ultimately it was emotionally and physically draining and it was time for a change.”
“I have always enjoyed interior design, arts, crafts and anything pretty to be honest! I will often try and learn new skills as I gain a huge sense of satisfaction from making something from scratch. For several years I thought about leaving the Police and starting up on my own but I had no idea where to start… I hadn’t even worked in the private sector let alone starting with nothing all by myself. I see working for a franchise as effectively working for yourself but with fewer risks as you are buying into an established brand and a proven business model, there are existing stylists and Head Office members within the Ambience network who can guide you and help you develop your skills as a new business owner.”
“When I think back to my happiest time in life so far it was planning my own wedding. I just lived in this romantic bubble and would spend hours on the internet immersed in all things weddings. My husband and I decided to use Ambience to dress our wedding venue and were very impressed with them.
It was around this time when I first started thinking that it would be a lovely industry to work in. Not long after our wedding I started to seriously think about working within the industry and looked at the different franchises available. It made sense to me to enquire with Ambience as I knew first-hand how professional they were and what they had to offer brides, unfortunately there wasn’t a franchise opportunity available close to be me at that time and I carried on working for the Police for another 6 years… Earlier this year I had made enquiries again with Ambience regarding a franchise. When I found out about the Harrogate franchise, I immediately knew that this is where I envisaged myself and just had to invest.
Buying the franchise has been a smooth process. I have been in regular contact with the previous owner and she has helped me develop my skills at dressing venues and has provided me with some invaluable top tips along the way with her existing knowledge of the area.
I have had some days whereby I realise that I have a lot to learn and I have placed some pressure on myself to develop my knowledge into being a business owner and working within the wedding industry but the sense of achievement after setting up a venue for someone’s big day far outweighs the moments of self-doubt.
Head Office is at the end of the phone to offer advice and to guide me when dealing with new systems and small hiccups along the way.”
“I have no regrets leaving a steady job to pursue this new venture. I believe that I can make a success of this as I have bought a quality, well established brand within an amazing catchment area, surrounded by the most amazing venues. I know that there are people within the network who I can turn to for advice and support wherever this new journey takes me.”
“At this early stage I am building up my stock range and will be investing in some statement centrepieces in the near future, I cannot wait to be creative and demonstrate my style. I would like to establish myself within two new venues over this coming 12 months.
My advice to someone considering investing in Ambience is to be brave and take a chance because you will never know unless you try!”
Amy is the perfect example to show that it doesn’t matter what your working background, achieving your dream of working in the wedding industry is possible!
Ambience welcomed Adele in November 2018 even though she didn’t start running the Glasgow territory until January 2019.

Hana came from working in retail for over 13 years and she joined Ambience as a stylist in January 2016.
