Meet Tara McGoune, franchisee owner of Razzamataz Early Years Tryone & Fermanagh
Tara is a mum to a gorgeous girl called Katie who is just two-years-old. After having her daughter, like many new mums, Tara found it challenging to adjust to her new role and the loneliness that can hit many first-time parents. Living in Northern Ireland, Tara felt that there was a huge gap in the market in the mum and baby groups so when she came upon the Razzamataz brand and their new Early Years offering, she knew it was something that would be welcomed in her area.
“Having studied drama to degree level I have been working with young people and adults in community theatre for over 13 years. Directing, producing, teaching and choreographing a variety of theatre over the years, my passion is working with children and young people, seeing first-hand the positive effects performance based activities and learning has.”
“As a new mother myself, for the first year, I found it difficult as most do. I wanted to get out and about to attend classes but I felt the variety and choice of baby/toddler classes in this area was extremely limited.”
“It is universally recognised now how important drama is as a tool to enhance life-long skills and instil confidence and self-esteem in children. Recent research also shows how receptive babies’ brains are to music, movement and touch from birth which is essential for mental and physical development. I also wanted to work with a company that I connected with, a company that shared the same dedication to this subject as I do. I am confident that together with Razzamataz and their 20 years’ experience we can bring a new fresh approach and professional service to Tyrone & Fermanagh.”
Razzamataz Early Years Franchise consists of a brand-new product called Razz Tiny Tots, which is a class especially designed for babies (to they start walking) and their parent/carers. It also includes the established products of Razz Tots for children walking to age three and Razz Minis for those age four to six.
“We get lots of enquiries from people who have the desire to run their own performing arts based business but don’t have the relevant experience to run one of our main theatre schools. We have lots of testimonials from parents who attend the Early Years classes so we know there is a good customer base already and positive word of mouth is attracting more customers who are looking for a unique class to enjoy with their babies at this precious time in their child’s life.”
