Introducing Julie From Trophy Pet Foods Frachise in Wakefield

I’ve been running the Trophy Wakefield/ Huddersfield /Barnsley franchise since November 2020. I consider myself still fairly new to the business and I’m constantly learning as I go.  I’m 43 and left my career in primary education about seven years ago to start my own pet care and dog walking business - which I still have. I am well established and successful and have found that my businesses marry each other perfectly and although it's sometimes hard, I’m doing a really good job at running them both side by side!

Trophy Pet Foods Franchise - JulieI found Trophy by chance, picking up a dog for walks when Sue, the previous franchise owner, was delivering their food. She helped me sort out my own dog’s digestive issues and it wasn’t long before my cats, rabbits and dogs were all on Trophy, it’s a food that they all thrive on and enjoy. I loved the brand, the service and the advice when needed so when the opportunity presented itself to purchase the franchise, it seemed like the obvious thing to do.

I received excellent in-house training, support and mentorship even though the timing wasn’t great with the pandemic. Every effort was made by Trophy to provide me with the training via online zoom meetings, support hubs and old fashioned telephone calls. I already had an existing customer base through buying the established franchise so I started off in a very good position.  I’m not a natural sales person but I don’t need to be, the products speak for themselves! It’s not just the products, the company has excellent ethical accreditations, they have a low carbon footprint, they are a high-quality British brand, all the ingredients are natural - no preservatives or nasty additives, the herbs fruits and vegetables are abundant in all the recipes. So you combine the qualities of this company with my own strong work ethic and I pride myself on customer service I also strive to give a personal service.

All these factors in combination have helped me grow this franchise and it’s still expanding.  I’ve been working on the social media presence of my franchise, giveaway raffles and building on the awareness of the brand within my social media circles and it is working. I also give back to the local community by donating dog food to Action for Homeless Barnsley and food banks.

My plans for the future are to simply continue what I’m doing, to reach the parts of West or South Yorkshire that are not yet included in or know about my franchise.   I’m lucky to have a supportive family that helps me with the logistics of running two businesses, three teenage children (they’re not children anymore now, they’re young adults) and I’ve also got a menagerie of rescued animals to look after. When I’m not running my empires you'll find me enjoying a bit of wild camping in the British Outback, off grid, or at a music festival letting my hair down!
