Young graduates join Razzamataz Theatre Schools

16th July 2015

Young graduates, Gemma Hextall and Nicholas Furlong, are amongst the two newest owners of a Razzamataz Theatre Schools.

Gemma Hextall, 22 and Nicholas Furlong, 23, both from Leicestershire are amongst the two newest franchisee owners at Razzamataz Theatre Schools.

Razzamataz Theatre Schools - Young graduatesThe pair have finished their degrees at the same time as setting up the part-time theatre school and showed how to dive straight into business.

Gemma and Nicholas have recently jointly taken over Razzamataz Sutton Coldfield and will combine their knowledge of performing arts with the support they receive from Razzamataz to successfully run the school.

Both Gemma and Nicholas hold a Ba Hons degree in applied theatre (community and education) that they have only just completed (2015). Part of the course involved applying drama skills to help the community including working with Age Concern on a 12-week project for those living with dementia.

As well as both being performers, Gemma is a musician and Nicholas is a drama teacher. Having worked and studied together for the last five years, Gemma and Nick decided to set up a business together. They explained that they have a good understanding of each other’s strengths and weaknesses and are each skilled in the areas the other isn't.

"We have always wanted to run our own business as our parents both do so it comes naturally," explained Gemma. "Razzamataz is the first business we have owned and we are looking forward to developing the school and making it a fun place to be for both staff and students."

Gemma and Nicholas financed the Razzamataz franchise through their own personal savings and have already learned much about running a business.

"Be prepared and have time to set the school up properly," says Nicholas. "All of the resources that you will need are provided by the Razzamataz Head Office and they are there for any back up or advice and can share their years’ of experience in running theatre schools. Having two heads is better than one!"

To celebrate 15 years of business, Razzamataz is offering a special promotion with a £2,015 reduction for 2015, making the franchise fee £7,980 plus VAT.
