Oscar delivers! Female trio reap rewards
Claire Taylor , South Manchester, November 2006
After years of travelling, I achieved my ambition to work in Africa leading groups of people on camping expeditions. My long term ambition was to work for myself and it took me couple of years to research the market. The British Franchise Association was my first point of contact, via the internet, followed by reading magazine after magazine.
I had always appreciated the many benefits of franchising and could see that the high risks of starting a business from scratch were well covered. My plan was to connect with the local community and work with animals; and the rest was down to Oscar!
Lesley Lavin, Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire March 2001
My children needed me at home and I wanted to be there for them - that was in 2001. Now in 2007 I still want to be around the family and my decision to change career as a Midwifery Sister has paid off. Internet searching took me, as an animal lover, instinctively to Oscar, to then discover I’d connected to an unconditionally friendly, family-type business.
It appealed immediately for all the right reasons especially when the outlay suited my budget. Flexibility in a business is very necessary for juggling time - with customers, at home and for covering hours spent away with a happy network of neighbouring franchisees; we all work well as a team!
