Raring2go! Business
Website and Magazine Publishing Franchise

What makes this franchise stand out from competitors?

Raring2go! Business | Website and Magazine Publishing FranchiseThe ongoing investment from the franchisor in the brand, products and training. Raring2go! rebranded in 2018 and invested heavily in their central marketing and promotional materials.

Raring2go! has implemented new training across sales, marketing and social media. They also stand out as their start up package is comprehensive and offers a 'no working capital' requirement. In essence they offer a 6 month cost free operating period in which franchisees establish themselves.

Raring2go! innovate and introduce new revenue generating opportunities such as the Raring2go! awards which see franchisees develop a generous uplift in revenue.

Raring2go! franchisees collaborate closely at local, regional and national level so there really is a team spirit to being a Raring2go! franchisee.

What would be my main roles as a franchise owner?

To sell advertising to local businesses. To ensure a healthy balance between paid for advertising and interesting and engaging local feature content. To liaise with designers to layout the magazines as per the flat plan and to ensure that local schools distribute the magazines to their pupils.

What does a typical day involve for a franchisee?

Raring2go! Business | Website and Magazine Publishing FranchiseA typical day will include telephone work, face to face meetings and email correspondence with advertising clients for both print editions and their own area specific website.

Compiling lists of local events and activities relevant and interesting to the target market of primary school children and their families. Producing editorial/feature content. A great deal of material is available free of charge to franchisees on their portal. An average franchisee works circa 24 hours per week.

Can I balance running the business around my family activities or other commitments?

Raring2go! Business | Website and Magazine Publishing FranchiseAbsolutely. Raring2go! is not part time but it is very flexible. Most franchisees are parents of school age children who want to maintain the flexibility of caring for their family whilst working and earning.

Greater time input is required at the beginning of the journey with Raring2go! but in time, most of their franchisees are able to take nearly all of the school holiday time (13 weeks) in order to have no childcare costs and spend time with their families.

What qualifications or experience do I need?

Raring2go! Business | Website and Magazine Publishing Franchise

Raring2go! provide training, but in essence all franchisees will need either experience of or a natural disposition for advertising sales.

They will need to be able to build friendly working relationships with businesses and have the confidence to sell advertising space via phone, face to face and via email / letters.

Franchisees will need an eye for detail and also not be afraid to roll up their sleeves when production time approaches.

What training is provided?

Raring2go! provide full training in all aspects of their IT systems which include their proprietorial Magazine Management System, CRM and content management system for their website. They also train them in running the awards and using social media effectively for business.

Raring2go! Business | Website and Magazine Publishing FranchiseHow many magazines do franchisees produce each year?

Raring2go! is a seasonal, quarterly magazine so there are four editions per annum. Each edition is a minimum of 32 pages x 10,000 copies.

Clearly, as a business matures, the page count and production quantity increase, bring of course slightly higher print costs but also increased profitability.

Do you hold an annual conference?

Raring2go! hold an annual conference every year where all franchisees attend. This normally takes place in mid-January as this is when there is a natural lull in production between winter and spring editions.

Raring2go! fluctuate venues between the north, the midlands and the south. In addition, throughout the year there are regional meetings between franchisees where the franchisor also attends. Finally, once a month there is a remote coffee house Zoom (like Skype) call which brings franchisees together to discuss a range of subject and topics.

Will I be able to purchase additional territories?

Yes. Raring2go! offer a significant incentive for franchisees to purchase secondary and tertiary territories but at a fraction of the cost of the first one. Quite a few of their franchisees have second and third territories.

What sort of benefits might I realise once the business has matured?

A rewarding and flexible home based business which as an asset will increase in value. A regular monthly income (as long as the franchisee puts in the effort and time). The option of still being available for your family commitments. Generous holidays. No child care costs. No stress or expensive commute. Membership of a network of engaged franchisees who work with one another locally, regionally and nationally.

What Our Franchisees Say

Being an Editor for Raring2go! has been the best thing ever for me and my family. Having had my two children I knew I didn’t want to go back into the 9-5 rut but I also knew that I wanted to do something to challenge me as I’d always worked in fairly highly-pressurised environments and wanted that buzz back!Jayne Deakin Editor Raring2go! - Bury & Bolton

I have achieved so much in my confidence, building friendships, getting out into networking groups. If you’re thinking of working for yourself, to have a great job opportunity that is flexible around your family and lets you still do everything you need to do for your family then Raring2go! is for you.Kiri St George Editor Raring2go! - Worthing

I’m proud to be part of the Raring2go! national family and love what I do. Every day brings something new and we not only help local families have fun and make the most of the local area but we help local businesses reach those families, helping our local areas thrive. What’s not to love about that? #Raring2go!Victoria Withy Editor Raring2go! - Aberdeen City & Shire
