Former CID police officer and mum of two Marie Mariegaard is set to bring order to the homes of Guildford with the launch of her own domestic cleaning and home care business, Bright & Beautiful.
Marie, who lives in central Guildford with partner Phil and their two children has launched her business managing a team of cleaners to deliver ethical, professional and eco-friendly housekeeping services that include cleaning, tidying and laundry in the areas of Guildford, Onslow Village, Pewley, Merrow, Burpham, Stoughton, Clandon, Worplesdon, Farncombe and Compton.
Marie, 36, is originally from Denmark and, before setting up Bright & Beautiful, enjoyed a successful eight year career in the Metropolitan Police. Initially joining a Neighbourhood Team in South London, Marie went on to train as a Police Constable where she was part of a response team, responding to emergency calls. She then was recruited by the CID (Criminal Investigation Department), where she was responsible for successfully investigating many serious criminal cases.
Marie decided to launch Bright & Beautiful in Guildford after having her second child when, like many busy mums, she wanted a career that allowed her to work flexible hours around the family. Now her prestige domestic care business is delivering professional housekeeping services using all natural eco-friendly products as well as creating a number of jobs for local men and women and allowing Marie to enjoy flexible working hours and days.
"A career in the police force is an incredibly exciting and interesting one but having a family really makes you re-examine your priorities and I knew I had to leave that career and the London commute behind. I loved working but needed a new challenge, something that would enable me to be my own boss and to enjoy more quality time with my family. Setting up Bright and Beautiful in Guildford will do just that and I’m really looking forward to helping local families to keep their own busy lives ticking over too.
Our own research* has found that women are still responsible for the vast majority of housework in the home and almost half sacrifice family time to getting the housework done. I want to help give families their hugely important leisure time back by taking on all of those cleaning, tidying and ironing jobs that eat into their free time and weekends."
Bright & Beautiful is an award-winning business model that was founded by entrepreneur Rachel Ray in 2007. A busy working mum herself, Rachel spotted a gap in the market for a domestic cleaning company that provided full fair employment rights for its team, non-toxic cleaning products and an exceptional housekeeping service for its clients. Since then the business has grown from strength to strength with franchisees around the UK employing carefully vetted professional housekeepers and servicing thousands of clients.
