Ambience - Emma and AdamEmma had worked in retail for 12 years:

"I started at Debenhams when I was at college then Paul Smith and PANDORA. I wanted to have more flexibility within my job.

Adam worked with his dad in his Joinery business. We had been thinking about pursuing this for a while, thought it would be a great investment opportunity and to be self employed."

Adam does more the accounts side of things and Emma has the creative side:

"Starting a business can be a very daunting experience and to know that you were joining a well established and proven national network made our decision a lot easier.

It’s comforting to know you have support from the very start, not only from HO but from other stylists to. Nothing is too much for HO they help you with any aspect of starting up your business and getting it established.

At PANDORA I would work long hours and could not see the benefits. Now, we can be our own boss and know that all the work we put in is going to benefit ourselves. Working from home means we also get to spend more time with each other.

Right from the very first enquiry we made HO were really helpful, sending us as much information as they could to help us make a decision on whether to go ahead. It was clear from this that nothing was too much trouble. They immediately came across as very friendly. When we offered to meet them at HO they were so friendly and made us feel at ease straight away.

The buying journey was painless and effortless. They could not have given us any more information and could not have been more helpful. They even sent us statements from other stylists on why they made the decision.

So far it is has been everything we had imagined and more. Especially learning new things about our business and how to make it grow. We can see our business growing more and more each day which is very rewarding. The support from HO is impeccable.

I never thought that being a part of a network would be so supportive and beneficial. Everyone is happy to help each other, offer advice and celebrate each other’s successes. If you don’t know something, just ask. Nothing is ever too silly and there will always be someone who knows the answer or who can help - both HO and Stylists. It’s like a little Ambience family."

We asked Emma and Adam how the couples dream team life was working for them both:

"Great! We both know what our 'roles' are, he is accounts and I am the creative side and we are both happy with that – it is working out very well!"

When we asked Emma and Adam what their plans are for the future of Ambience Teesside, they told us:

"The main goal is to have a successful business! To grow it year on year and to be the best venue styling franchise in our area. To gain the trust from venues and continuously look for new ideas we can bring to the area before anyone else. To be the envy of all our competitors!"

Emma’s and Adam’s advice as a couple in business to another couple out there looking to go into business together:

"If you have been thinking about taking the next step and working together we would say really think about it. Think about if it would work for you both or would you drive each other round the bend! Make pro’s and con’s lists and if there are more pro’s then go for it! Why not, you will always have that ‘what if… That’s what was always on our minds, just go for it!"
