Jasper's Franchise

Jasper’s is the answer for Derby husband and wife team

7th February 2013

Jasper’s has opened its ninth catering franchise with the launch of Jasper’s Derby, run by husband and wife team Anne and Jimmy Coppen.

Jasper's Franchise case studyAnne lived and worked in Kuwait before marrying Jimmy and raising their three children. Jimmy spent the early part of his career as an engineer for the railways and latterly as a British Gas engineer. However, the entrepreneurial flame has always burned brightly for both of them. For 10 years the couple owned a pet products business which became a fully-fledged grocer shop.

Their decision to own a Jasper’s catering franchise was inspired by a life-long interest in food and comes after thorough research of the market. Jimmy said: “Having experienced setting up and running a business on our own, we know the challenges – the financial risk, the hard work and sense of isolation at times. So this time we wanted to invest in a franchise. You get all the excitement and freedom of owning a business but with vastly superior systems and processes, a support structure, peer group and all the leverage of a national brand in terms of profile and marketing.

We looked at other food businesses but each one we researched seemed flawed. When we started exploring Jasper’s, we became more and more impressed. The business model is proven as Jasper’s has eight other established franchises across the country. We also like the fact that there are multiple revenue sources – from onsite catering and vending solutions as well as delivered catering. And the application process was two way – it was about ensuring we are right for Jasper’s as much as Jasper’s is right for us

Anne said: “There is no tougher, more challenging or rewarding job than raising children – and we have three! Now they are older, I want to apply my skills to a business that will leave a financial legacy for our family. What stood out for us with Jasper’s is the quality of everything - from the trained production staff, to the branded refrigerated vehicles we deliver our food in, and the food itself.”

Jasper’s Founder and Director, Nathan Siekierski said: “We are increasingly finding that people interested in owning a Jasper’s franchise want to take it on with their partner. They can split the responsibilities of production and sales, rely on each other, work together and create a positive financial legacy for their family. Anne and Jimmy are our latest couple to take Jasper’s into a new territory and I know they will do a fantastic job supplying business catering in and around Derby.”
